How Can the Sarant Cadillac Service Center Help?

Today, Cadillac is a symbol of wealth and luxury around the world. Anyone seen driving a Cadillac is immediately understood to have “made it.” Let’s explore how the brand got there.

Cadillac’s roots can be traced back to 1701, when a group of French explorers led by Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac (fancy, we know) established a city called Ville d’Etroit. In time, the city became known as Detroit and flourished as an industrial powerhouse full of car plants and foundries.

When William Murphy and Henry Leland founded their auto company in 1902, they paid homage to Sir Cadillac by naming it after him and using his armorial bearings as its logo.

Its first automobiles were the Runabout and the Tonneau, two-seat horseless carriages powered by a 10-hp single-cylinder engine. From the beginning, Cadillac aimed for precision engineering and luxury styling, which appealed to customers who wanted the confidence and satisfaction that came with driving a better-built car.

Cadillac quickly got to innovating—and never stopped. In 1915, it produced a 70-horsepower V8 engine that made its cars go faster than the roads could accommodate. Three years later, it pioneered the dual-plane V8 crankshaft. Then came the first clashless Synchro-Mesh manual transmission, the first V16 engine, and the overhead valve V8 engine. Every decade, it seemed Cadillac was inventing something new and setting a new standard.

Other notable innovations include the world’s first independent front suspension system, closed cooling system, electronic injection systems, and catalytic converter. Needless to say, there’s a reason Cadillac is as famous as it is around the world.
