Winter is here! Though many people might think that the summer is the best time for Long Island fun and entertainment there is tons of, “Winter Wonderland” fun to be had here too! From lightings, to sledding, to special theater performances and ice skating, there are endless possibilities for frosty wintertime enjoyment.

You don’t have to make your way all the way into New York City to take in the beauty and amusements of winter. Bundle up, don’t forget your hat, scarf, and gloves – and be ready to enjoy the cold to delight in the many merry winter activities Long Island has to offer. Don’t forget to reward yourself afterward by warming up with a nice, steaming cup of hot chocolate.

Find yourself near Huntington, Long Island? Make sure to check out the Huntington Holiday Spectacular that is set up right on Main Street. They transform this street into holiday cheer with decorations, an 80 Ft. Christmas Tree, and more. Local businesses join in the holiday festivities with special holiday deals along with joining in to help bring the community together.

The Holiday Spectacular runs through January 10th, between 5:30 PM – 11 PM. Additionally, there will be a light show every 30 minutes.

Another local winter activity favorite goes to the Magic of Lights at Jones Beach State Park drive-thru. This event is a staple for enjoying the end of the year. This family-friendly drive includes light tunnels, and a festival spread over a 1-2 Mile course.

After driving through, you can check out the Holiday Village, which has food and drinks, a visit with Santa, an Ice skating Rink, and more!

A unique thing you can do during the winter on Long Island is to go seal-watching! From boat cruises to seal walks at a multitude of Long Island beaches, you have plenty of options. You can even try spotting them on your own.

One of the most popular tours if you want to see seals by boat is with Captin Lou Fleet, which leaves out of Freeport. Some seals you can see on Long Island include the Harbor Seal, Grey Seal, Hooded Seal, and Harp Seal.

Adults and children alike can try the interactive driving range. You and your crew can enjoy interactive golf games like Angry Birds. Youth and toddler-sized golf clubs are available and included. TopGolf’s signature restaurant offers kid-friendly fare like macaroni bites, tater tots and even ‘injectable’ donut holes. Reservations suggested.
